On the night before the start of my ride (Sept 7th 2011), I received a call saying my Uncle in Italy had passed away after a long illness. His name is Dr Pietro Graziano. Zio Pietro as I call him, was loved by many and I mourn his passing. This blog is not the place to say why he was so important to me, a story for another day.
Zio, I will miss you and think of you always. All the new places I go to, I will pause and think of the life you gave me by giving me your blood and pushing when other Drs wanted to give up.
I will miss you.
Your nephew Mario
All the best for your trip!
ReplyDeleteGees, you're taking heaps of stuff, in particular tools and spares :o) ... I would never dream of taking with me :D
I may yet rethink the number of tools.

Have a very safe ride... I went on a long ride from Florida to Alaska, then cross Canada and back down the east coast to Florida... I was 40 at the time, 71 now, and I still remember it as it was yesterday..

ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying your ride around Australia. It's so nice that you have dedicated your ride to Zio Pietro. He was such a lovely and generous man and I feel privileged to have known him. He will be missed by all. Take care and we will be keeping track of your ride. Lots of love Antonella & Joe.
